Ronnie’s War is an account of one boy’s experience of World War 2. He is evacuated from London after a tense chase through an air raid to rescue his Mum. In our book club today we only learned a little bit about Ronnie as Oliver and Ethan have read just the first couple of chapters, but we talked about how it must have felt to have lived in a city that was being bombed in wartime.
At this website from the BBC, we were able to listen to the sounds of the Blitz. The wail of the sirens, the crashing of bombs as people’s homes were being destroyed and the drone of the bombers flying over must have been terrifying for Ronnie and the other children who relied upon their parents and the adults in their lives to keep them safe.
We will update this post as we move further through Ronnie’s experiences.
