Great books for boys

In Book Club today Lachlan talked about the recent Tom Gates book he had been reading, and how he loved the stories about Tom and his friend Derek and what they get up to. These books are written and illustrated by Liz Pichon (pronounced pea-shone as she says) and you can find a link on the image below to a whole website dedicated to Tom Gates, including games to play and ideas, like how to draw in the same style.

Tom Gates

These are great books for boys and girls to read and if parents want to get some ideas, here is an article about how to move your boys on from reading The Wimpy Kid series. There is a further link in the article to look out for if you browse down it. Some of the ideas that we have in the library are

Andy Griffiths – the 13-Storey Treehouse series
Tom Gates
Shamini Flint’s Diary of a Sports Star series
Reading Warrior’s Sportsman profiles
Timmy Failure Mistakes were made
Roald Dahl – all of them, especially my favourite, Danny Champion of the World
Cressida Cowell’s How to train your dragon series
Michael Morpurgo
The Cherub Series by Robert Muchamore
The Stormbreaker Series by Anthony Horowitz
Harry Potter
Percy Jackson
