The Very Important Godwit – NZ Bird of the Year!!

Who remembers reading this book in the library this year? We learned quite a lot about Godwits and how they migrate all the way to Alaska, stopping only once in China, and then after having a family fly all the way back again IN ONE GO WITHOUT STOPPING!!!! It takes a long time to travel all that way and they even sleep in the air as they fly. After a hotly contested poll, the Godwit has been voted in as New Zealand’s Bird of the Year. Congratulations Godwit, you really are Very Important!
